When is the Next Military Pay Day in 2024?
It is important to keep track of the 2024 military pay dates. While active duty military pay dates are the 1st and the 15th of each month, when the 1st or 15th falls on a weekend, the pay date shifts slightly as you will see in 2024 Active Duty Military Pay Dates chart below.
One of the perks of using a bank like USAA or Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) is the ability to have your pay check funds available early. Typically the early pay date for NFCU is one business day before the regular pay day, but when the regular pay day falls on a Monday, NFCU members receive their early pay on Saturday.
As of December 9th, 2022, USAA announced that early pay for USAA members is now 2 days early. That means that USAA members could have access to their pay up to 2 days prior to the pay date. This is important information as you track the 2024 military pay dates.
Note: Early access to direct deposit funds is based on when the bank receives notice of payment from the payer, which is generally one to two business days before the scheduled payment date. There are occasionally delays that result in pay not being received early, but rather on the regularly scheduled pay date.

Where do the longer pay periods fall for this year?
Since holidays and weekends shift the military pay dates some throughout the 2024 year, there are always a few pay periods that are longer than others. When you add early pay into the equation, it can make some of these pay periods even longer.
This is important information for military families to take note. If you plan and budget for 15-16 day pay periods you may need to make a different plan for the months that have longer periods between the early pay deposits.
Longer pay periods for USAA Members in 2024
- January 10 – 30 is a period of 20 days between pay deposits.
- April 11 – 29 is a period of 18 days between pay deposits.
- July 11 – 30 is a period of 19 days between pay deposits.
- October 10 – October 30 is a period of 20 days between pay deposits.
USAA members, pay special attention to the longer pay periods that fall around spring break, during summer vacation and around Halloween. If you usually plan trips or parties during these dates, this may impact your budget if you don’t prepare ahead of time. It is also important to note the longer period in January. This pay check should be the first of the year to have the 2024 raise in basic pay increase, but the wait to the next pay day might come as a surprise to many families who aren’t used to a stretch that long between checks.

- April 12 – 30 is a period of 18 days between pay deposits.

You are aware that it will be longer between pay checks on these dates, but what can you do? A good idea is plan to save on the shorter pay periods.
Many make the mistake of thinking that because a pay period was only 12-14 days long that they have extra money. Instead, set the extra aside for these longer gaps in pay.

When are LES statements available for the pay periods?
Leave and Earning Statements (LES) are typically available 7 days before the pay day.
The only date that might be different this year would be regarding the LES statement that is scheduled to come out on November, 24th for the December 1st pay date. Thanksgiving falls on November 23rd this year, so the date the LES is available may shift slightly.
