Teacher Appreciation Week During Quarantine

teacher appreciation week 2020 teacher gifts

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up quickly and perhaps in 2020, more than any year other, parents have an overwhelming appreciation for how hard teachers work.

Teachers have been working around the clock to learn new technologies and to modify lesson plans. Their hearts were broken when they were told schools would not be opening again this year. Yet they have continued to be vital in helping our kids maintain a connection to a feeling of normalcy, all while juggling their own chaos at home.

But how can we show teachers our appreciation while practicing social distancing?

When is Teacher Appreciation Week 2020?

Teacher Appreciation week is always held the first full week of May. During this dedicated students, their parents, and school principals have the opportunity to show their appreciation of teachers and thank them for their dedication and the contributions they make to our kids, the field of education and society as a whole.

This year teacher appreciation week is May 4 – May 8, 2020.

Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas During Quarantine

Teacher appreciation is definitely needed this year, but showing your gratitude during Teacher appreciation is a bit more challenging as we all practice social distancing to keep each other safe.

Here are seven ideas that can help you show your teacher how much she is appreciated:

Send a teacher some relaxation

If your teacher is willing to provide their address, sending her a way to relax is a great option after all the hard work she’s put in. While bath bombs are a great way to relax, not everyone has time for a relaxing soak. Instead send a box of FizzBenefitz Aromatherapy Shower Bombs that create a spa experience even when you only have time for a shower!

Email a digital gift card

E-gift cards are a perfect solution as they can be sent via email as a thank you to a teacher in your life.

If your child’s teacher is a coffee lover, Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts both have digital gift card options.

If you have Panera locally it is a great option for teachers to be able to pick up a meal and not have to cook – plus Panera is offering 20% off electronic gift cards through May 10th

Amazon and Target are also both great options for digital gift cards that teachers will love.

Make a video to express your gratitude

If you want to show gratitude but aren’t in a place financially to purchase a teacher gift, try making a video. Whether you create a long video or just a quick clip of you expressing your gratitude for the work your teacher does, she will be touched by your words.

Send a Popped Passion Popcorn Cake

You can’t be there to celebrate in person, but a sweet treat can be a great way to express how thankful you are for the teacher in your life who has worked so this year. Send him a Popped Passion Popcorn Cake designed with his favorite candies. It’s the perfect quarantine snack!

Head to Popped Passion’s website and use promo code spring2020 to get 30% off your order!

Email a card

Making the effort to send a thank you card is never wasted. Whether a card is sent via snail mail or email, the recipient will smile with joy upon opening. Taking the time to write your words of appreciation for your teacher leaves a lasting impression.

American Greetings and Hallmark both are great options for e-cards. There are free and paid options available!

Schedule a flower delivery

Sending flowers is a great way to brighten a teacher’s day. A simple bouquet to say thank you is a perfect option.

If you decide to send flowers, be sure to sign up and shop through Rakuten.com so that you can get up to 25% cash back on the flowers you send from ! (Plus if you’ve never used Rakuten before, you will get an additional $30 cash back by clicking referal the link, creating an account and making your first purchase of $30 or more! )

Create a student photo collage

This option can take some organization and is a great idea for a class to do together. Have each student take a photo holding a sign that spells out a message. Simple messages like “Thanks for all you do for us!” can be enough for an entire class. One parent (or student if an older class) would need to coordinate the group collection and put all the photos together in a document.

When your teacher opens the collage and sees all her students working together to make something special, she will be overwhelmed with joy and pride in the kids she works so hard to teach.

Teacher Appreciation Week 2020

The most important part of Teacher Appreciation Week is letting the teacher in your child’s life know that what they are doing matters.

2020 has not gone the way any of us anticipated and teachers everywhere are going the extra mile.

So no matter which option you choose, you can’t go wrong with sending your teacher something from the heart.
